Situation Summary:
A professional services firm was left high and dry when the country’s top four presentation skills training companies could not meet their requirements. The expectation that could not be met was ensuring that all 100 participants had an opportunity to have two live practice sessions during the 8-hour training period.
The Old Story:
We’re going to have to change the topic. No one can deliver what we need within our constraints. Our people won’t settle for “lecture and role playing”. They’re looking for a meaningful experience that makes their job easier and measurably improves their skills.
The New Story:
We changed the story by reframing the constraints that had caused the other training firms to decline the project. This allowed us to imagine a blended learning experience that leveraged available time by rotating participants through concurrent learning activities.
Outcomes:
- All 100 participants experienced two legitimate practice and feedback sessions
- As an added bonus, each participant received a comprehensive feedback report and action plan after the session
- 100% of the participants showed improvement in at least four of eight metrics; 79% improved in more than five metrics
